The Band let the fans wait more than half a year after the release of their album 13's reborn, but then the release of Volcano was announced. What surprised and astonished the fans was the fact, that the single would only be available as a DVD. Beside the PV for the main track, the DVD also contains two live videos for Jarring Fly and Shadan.

Volcano begins with a lowered down guitar riff and kind of peaceful drums, but after a few tacts, the walls break and guitar, bass and drums literally splatter out. In the PV, there's a dingy room filled with dirt and fog, wherein the four guys headbang like crazy and the spectators get pain in the neck just from watching. The black suits and white ties of the musicians make them seem to be serious and nice guys, but the half non-visible faces, the furious and mad eye-looks and especially Satoshi's aggressive singing prove the opposite.
The second half of the song, after a tiny break by slower bass tacts, is set in a new scene. Satoshi screams against a wire netting cage, while Nii, Shuu and Ryo hit and work their instruments as if there's no tomorrow. Bright white and red light changes rapidly and the cuts are so fast your eyes aren't able to follow properly anymore. Real fun!

The live videos of Jarring Fly and Shadan are nice to watch, even if the camera settings are sometimes not that clear and a bit weird, especially because girugamesh haven't released any official live footage yet. In Jarring Fly, there's one scene for example, in which one can clearly see how Shuu doesn't use a plectrum but plucks the strings of his bass with his fingers, and an other scene with Ryo having great fun behind his drumset.
The predominantly female audience masters synchronic hand gestures, and cheers the four guys as if they were a boyband and not a heavy rock band, but surprises the spectator with the ability to truly headbang.
The musical qualities live on stage can't be ignored. Nii manages it easily to swirl around, to headbang and to play the guitar at the same time, although he probably can't see anything due to his long hair flying around his face. Satoshi's singing is also really convincing, as he manages to hit the notes perfectly even after a lot of screams and deep growls.

All in all, if you like harder music and would like to see what you're listening to, this DVD single is a nice investment.
