BUCK-TICK are without a doubt one of the most popular and most influential Japanese rock bands. Active since no less than 25 years, the group keeps reinventing itself without alienating their many fans, and so is still very successful with their music, which connects many genres from rock and pop to new wave, industrial and electro, thus forming a multi-faceted one of a kind.

The group was formed in 1983 under the name Hinan Go-Go. Hisashi Imai (guitar) recruited his friend Yutaka Higuchi (bass), later Hidehiko Hoshino (guitar, keyboard), who knew Yutaka from their high-school days, joined the band. Araki filled the spot of the singer for some time, while Atsushi Sakurai accepted the part of the drummer. Fist concerts followed, at which the five played cover songs of the Japanese punk band The Stalin.
Mid-1984 the name was changed to BUCK-TICK, a unique and playful version of the Japanese word „bakuchiku“ („firecracker“).... read more
